Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: OR - Operating Room - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 02/23/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 40 hours per week - Shift: 10 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with IL license and Level I trauma experience for a 13-week assignment. Responsibilities - Position is in the Operating Room unit of an acute care, Level I trauma center - Shift schedule is 4x10 hour days, 10:45 to 21:15 - Weekend shift required once per month - On-call is required approximately once per week - Floating may occur within skill set but is rare - Assignment length is 13 weeks - Involvement with all service lines except CV - Patient cases include general surgery, trauma, neuro, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, urology, emergency management, and bariatric - Required equipment experience includes electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Hana tables - Cerner EMR is used; Cerner experience is preferred - Scrubs are provided for this role - Responsible for circulating and scrubbing on a variety of advanced surgical procedures - Works with a multidisciplinary surgical team in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment - Expected to handle a broad scope of emergency, trauma, and specialized surgical cases - Floating may occasionally occur to other units or affiliated hospitals as needed within scope - Required to work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays - All requested time off must be reviewed and approved by the manager - Parking permit is provided at no cost, issued during orientation - All onboarding modules must be completed virtually within first day Requirements - Active IL RN license required at time of application - Minimum 3 years of recent OR nursing experience required - Level I trauma experience required - General OR and trauma nursing background required - BLS certification required; CNOR is preferred - Experience with major surgical case types including laparoscopic, neuro, ortho, plastics, transplant, urology, and emergency trauma cases - Familiarity with administration of blood products, infection control, universal protocol, specimen handling, and radiation safety - Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible - First-time travelers are not accepted - No prior employment within the past 12 months at this hospital as a permanent or PRN staff member Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-664695.
