Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 10 Hours Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience required License: Active state license required Certifications: BLS required CNOR and CST preferred Must-Have: General OR and Trauma experience required Level I trauma experience required Cerner experience preferred Required experience in specific surgical cases Description: This position involves working in the operating room. Shifts are 4x10 hours with varied evening schedules. Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years' experience. First-time travelers are not accepted for this role. Weekend shifts will be required, approximately one per month. On-call duty is required, approximately once per week. The clinician may float within their scope to meet facility needs, though this is rare. All requested time off will be reviewed and approved by management. Candidates must have experience with all service lines, except for cardiovascular. Experience with laparoscopic-assisted cases is required. Experience is needed in general surgery cases such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and others. Neurology case skills must include cervical fusion and craniotomy. Orthopedic case skills required include arthroscopy and fracture management. Plastic surgery case experience must include microvascular free flap procedures. Required trauma case skills encompass managing amputations and multi-injury situations. Emergency management skills are necessary, including code response and fire safety. Familiarity with equipment such as electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources is needed. Professional knowledge should include infection control and proper specimen handling. Experience in a teaching and Magnet hospital setting is preferred. Candidates are expected to comply with organizational policies and procedures throughout the assignment.
