Orchard Farm School District is seeking a Speech and Language

Pathologist is responsible for identifying students with
communication disorders; planning and implementing appropriate
treatment to minimize adverse impact on student success; and
recommending treatment plans. Experience with or willingness to
learn about AAC strategies and devices is required. Essential
Duties and Responsibilities An individual who holds this position
must: Assesses students' communication skills (e.g. articulation,
fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language, etc.) for the
purpose of identifying communication disorders, determining program
eligibility and developing recommendations for treatment.
Collaborates with a variety of groups and/or individuals (e.g.
parents, teachers, physicians, administration, maintenance
personnel, team members, other professionals, etc.) for the purpose
of communicating information, resolving issues and providing
services in compliance with established guidelines. Coordinates
meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g.
testing/screening, IEPs, parent conferences, pre-referral staffing,
etc.) for the purpose of presenting evaluation results, developing
treatment plans, and/or providing training to
parents/students/staff. Develops IEP's, interventions and/or
educational materials for the purpose of minimizing the adverse
impact of communication disorders in compliance with regulatory
requirements. Instructs eligible students in the use of appropriate
communication technologies (e.g. hearing aids, FM systems,
argumentative communication devices, etc.) for the purpose of
minimizing the adverse educational impact of communication
disorders in accordance with established guidelines and legal
requirements Instructs assigned support staff for the purpose of
providing information on communicative disorders, use of assistive
devices, and feeding techniques, and/or implementing prescribed
treatment plans. Interprets medical reports within the scope of
Speech/Language Pathologist's experience and goals for the purpose
of providing information and/or ensuring that
treatment/intervention plans are appropriate for school therapy.
Maintains files and/or records (e.g. progress reports, activity
logs, billing information, IEP's, required documentation, quarterly
reports, screening results, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the
availability of information as required for reference and/or
compliance Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g.
training, IEPs, team meetings, etc.) for the purpose of conveying
and/or gathering information. Performs site visits at multiple work
sites, including home visits for the purpose of providing therapy
and assistance as required. Prepares a wide variety of written
materials (e.g. activity logs, correspondence, memos, IEP's,
Medicaid billings, reports, required documentation, etc.) for the
purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference,
and/or conveying information. Responds to inquiries (e.g. parents,
teachers, staff, students, etc.) for the purpose of providing
information and/or referral as appropriate. Transports supplies and
equipment to a variety of sites for the purpose of ensuring the
availability of items as needed. Other Duties and Responsibilities
Perform other appropriate school-related duties as assigned by the
Executive Director of Student Services/Principal. Performs other
related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the
efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Supervisory
Duties In accordance with the Board policies and applicable law.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Education from an accredited
four-year College or University. Must hold a Missouri Certification
for Speech & Language Complete CPI certification (training provided
by district) Skills and Abilities An individual who holds this
position must have the ability to: Speaks clearly and persuasively
in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification;
responds well to questions. Writes clearly and informatively; able
to read and interpret written information. Focuses on solving
conflict; maintains confidentiality; remains open to others' ideas
and viewpoints. Maintains composure, keeps emotions in check,
controls anger, and avoids aggressive behavior, even in difficult
and stressful situations. Exhibits sound and accurate judgment,
supports and explains reasoning for decisions. Basic computer
skills, including experience with word processing software,
spreadsheet software, development software, and the Internet.
Additionally, individuals will utilize standard office equipment
such as copiers, printers, and telephone systems. Must communicate
appropriately with students, staff, and parents Must work closely
with other school personnel to ensure appropriate services for
students Physical Demands Is frequently required to stand, walk,
stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, grasp, feel, push, and reach May have to
use physical restraint or personal safety techniques The employee
may frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds Must have both
close and distance vision and be able to hear voices in a noisy
environment Conditions and Environment The individual who holds
this position will regularly work in a school environment that is

SALARY SCHEDULE Salary is based from years of experience teaching
